Broward No. 25 recruit | Ronnie Kennedy

LARRY BLUSTEIN'S COMMENTS: One of the biggest transfers of the off season saw this gifted football player make the move from St. Thomas to join one of the most talented 6A schools in the area. This is a talent who can play on both sides of the ball with his impressive speed. Among the schools watching his progress with the Colonels are North Carolina St., South Carolina and Auburn.

Not many players transfer out of St. Thomas Aquinas, but that's what Plantation wide receiver Ronnie Kennedy did following a 14-1 Class 5A state championship season at St. Thomas.

If he had any second thoughts on the decision to transfer to a Plantation squad, a dominating spring game win against Miami Dr. Krop made the decision a lot easier to live with.

''I feel really good about it,'' Kennedy said of the spring game win. ``We have a good chance this year. Plantation had a rough season last year, and I am coming from St. Thomas where we had a great season and won the state championship. The potential is here to make some things happen like we did in the spring game.''

Kennedy is bringing to Plantation a fast slot receiver who makes plays over the middle of the field and has excellent quickness to dominate linebackers. Kennedy was most recently clocked at 4.48 in the 40 this spring.

His speed is one of the first things colleges have taken notice of.

''Well as far as offers, I have Indiana, Central Michigan, Purdue, South Carolina, [and] FIU is about to offer me,'' Kennedy said. ``Minnesota has also offered me. I had talked to Florida and Florida State before, but not lately.''

Kennedy is not close to making a decision, though, as he wants to take his full compliment of visits, including at least one unofficial visit before this summer ends.

''I haven't visited any schools. I want to take at least one before the summer is out. It's probably going to be up north because that's where a lot of my schools are coming at me from,'' Kennedy said. `` Minnesota or Central Michigan is [probably] where I'll visit.''

He also plans on taking official visits in the fall before he makes a final decision as he has no favorite at the present time.

''I am definitely going to do that,'' Kennedy said. ``That's going to be the main thing in making my decision to see how each school is.''

Kennedy currently maintains a 2.3 GPA and is taking night school classes in an attempt to raise his GPA.

''I am taking the next SAT and ACT coming up in September. My GPA is a 2.3 so I need like a 980,'' Kennedy said. ``That's why I am going to night school so I can get a [better] score.''
