UM Football: Players feeling the heat

HEAT TAKING ITS TOLL ON HURRICANES

Miami tailbacks Damien Berry and Lee Chambers left practice early Tuesday because of heat exhaustion.

''We take breaks in practice, and that's all you can do,'' UM coach Randy Shannon said. ``It's part of camp.''

UM has been getting out onto Greentree Field for stretching and warm-ups by 7:45 a.m. and has not been completely finished until about 10:30 a.m. the past two days.

''We have a lot of young guys, so we have to get a lot more reps,'' Shannon said. ``One-a-days are kind of easy. You get some work in, and then you go and you rest the rest of the day.''

REDDICK EASING BACK IN

Safety Anthony Reddick has been limited in practice the past two days to allow him to ease into workouts in light of his two reconstructive knee surgeries.

''Everything is fine with him,'' Shannon said. ``We're just monitoring Reddick because guys come off knee injuries, and if you go and practice them every day you won't get much out of them.''

• Freshman safety C.J. Holton joined the team Tuesday and was given former tailback Charlie Jones' jersey -- No. 34.
