A man who felt he was about to be robbed took the offensive, a shoplifter got pushy and it cost a man $1,800 to read a paper in Dania Beach.

It was nearly closing time when a credit union was robbed in Hollywood. The robber, wearing sunglasses, a white hat, a dirty white shirt and white shorts entered the Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union, 5353 Sheridan St., about 4 p.m. Aug. 6.

A thirsty man was robbed of an expensive watch outside a Hollywood convenience store. A 43-year-old man told police he pulled into the convenience store in the 5800 block of Hollywood Boulevard about 12:45 p.m. Aug. 1 to get a drink.

Adam Morgan's the man behind the beat. His eatery, the Megabite Cyber Cafe in downtown Hollywood, is quickly becoming a local music haven where visitors catch a rotating lineup of indie artists while surfing the Web, sipping bubble teas and munching on appetizers.
PEMBROKE PARK
Pembroke Park saw its share of crime at the end of July. Students who used paint to damage the walls, bathrooms, floors, ceilings, desks and books in a portable classroom at Lake Forest Elementary School, 3550 SW 48th Ave., were identified on a surveillance video viewed about 7:10 a.m. July 21 by faculty members at the school. The juveniles were located, charged with burglary and criminal mischief and released to their parents.
